What's different about ProSigner?
ProSigner is unique in comparison to any other digital signature software in the market today. ProSigner provides a range of features for today's businesses while providing several ease of use options to automate most of the digital signing process and make it very simple for first time users.
Profiles To Automate Common Operations
ProSigner allows for the creation of profiles to store commonly used settings and options. This turns document signing / encryption into a very quick process since all the options are pre-stored and selected. It's also useful in case of inexperienced or first time users; you can create a system profile to store all the necessary settings, and the user is transparent to the entire signing process.
Policies To Control Digital Signature Use Across An Organization
Policies define and enforce certain organizational procedure when users perform security operations like signing, encryption or validation. For example a policy can dictate that high-value information needs to be encrypted in addition to being digitally signed. Policies can also be used to enforce signing parameters such as the has algorithm to be used, the certificate to sign with, and other signature related information.
Policies to Define And Mandate The Signing Sequence
In case of approval systems, it is essential that documents pass through a pre-defined hierarchy for approval of contents. ProSigner allows the application of policies to such documents, which enforce that the document be digitally signed only in the hierarchical sequence specified by an organization.
For instance you can specify that a particular documents needs to signed by A, then by B and then by C. No out of turn signing (C before B) or unspecified signatures (E or F) will be allowed on the document. This ensures that authorized personnel sign, depending on levels of authority or as per pre-determined business procedure.
Time Stamping
Many business documents are time sensitive and the time of signing is very essential to the business process. ProSigner allows for time stamping of documents at the time of signing. You can enforce timestamping through a policy. ProSigner ships with a timestamp client and interfaces withany IETF compliant time stamp server.
Multiple Validation Mechanisms
Certificate Validation is an important part of the signing/verification process. It refers to checking the status of a digital certificate (whether valid, expired or revoked). ProSigner allows you to check the certificate status both during the signing and verification process.
You can mandate that a certificate be checked for validity before a user is allowed to sign. The user will therefore not be able to sign using invalid (expired or revoked) certificates. Similarly when a signed document is verified, the validity of the certificate is checked. ProSigner supports CRL, OCSP and CAM validation mechanisms and also provides for defining fallback mechanisms (for eg. reverting to CRL if OCSP fails)
Time Referenced Certificate Validation
ProSigner provides a unique concept of time referenced certificate validation. Take for instance a case where a document is signed and then verified a couple of years later. Since digital certificates are valid for a period of one year, chances are that the signer's certificate would have expired by then and the verification would fail.
ProSigner overcomes and addresses this issue by informing the person verifying the document, whether the certificate was valid at the time of signing. It tells the user that even though the certificate may not be currently valid, it was valid when used to sign. This provides immense business value and is of importance particularly in case of archived documents.
Low Total cost of Ownership
ProSigner provides a FREE Reader for Verification called the E-Lock Reader. It can be freely distributed to anyone that needs to verify signed documents. This reduces the total cost of ownership, since you need to purchase ProSigner for only those users that need to sign documents. Users/Recipients that only need to verify signed documents can use the Free Reader.
